Peak Flow Meter has put down the microphone to introduce the first part of his Community Service series. Is it a beat tape? An audio sketch pad? An example of plunderphonics? Yes, to all of the above and more.

It’s a diary, a recipe book, an advert, a calling card, a hobby and a manifesto. Giddy drum loops scrap for space over mangled rhythms and choppy soul samples, some of them so warped that they can only be identified via their dental records. Each one built live and recorded on the 18/10/22, with zero overdubs and minimal editing / mixing / mastering.

Maybe one day they will form the back bone of something more substantial, something that includes the gobby, wordy bars that Peak Flow Meter is better known for. But until then, get lost in this whistle stop tour of his brain, with beats that sound like J Dilla with a head injury, arriving at the tail end of one of the hardest 12 month periods of his life. More volumes to follow. Serving a community of one.
